Radio has evolved with the recent update to digital radio and satellite radio which have little to no commercials which have transitioned people to not listen to the normal AM and FM stations.
Television has also transitioned to digital television which has created a crisper image and sound and has also swayed the public.
I feel like television has also become more common in households as a means of entertainment and distraction, rather than when it first came out as a means of information.
