Newspapers - Excess or Success?

Newspapers are still a popular part of people’s lives today but some people may feel like the popularity of newspapers is decreasing. Many people in today’s society receive newspapers weekly, or daily in order to get news, but now that news is everywhere, and literally in front of us a lot of the time, it is easy to neglect and forget about newspapers.

Many newspapers can be read online, and many websites nowadays feature breaking news on their homepages which consumers can easily see. This is what causes some issues with newspapers today. People are not as apt to receive newspapers everyday because they can just easily check online for the latest news for free.

What makes a newspaper ultimately successful is the variety and diversity of the stories they publish in their papers. Big time newspaper companies like The New York Times will not ever really have issues selling their papers because they offer a variety of stories, and they are such a big name company. They also have an online website that requires people to register to look at stories online, and they will soon have to pay for this service. This way, The New York Times can monitor their readers easily.

Local newspapers also continue to be successful – although you can get information about your home town or city online, reading the local stories written by local citizens people know is something that is very popular. Overall, the success of a newspaper depends on their marketing skills. A company having an organized website with resources, and a successful daily or weekly paper will keep their company thriving.
