Blockbusters

Blockbuster books are becoming less for the actual quality of the books, but for other things. As we discussed in class many will read books according to the author even when they have never read the summary that appears on the very back of the book. The book industry, in some ways, seems to be becoming desperate. When some companies were known to publish only books of the best quality, now they are more than ever focused on making money. They are doing this, many times, not because they want to compromise the quality of their books, but the need for money in the declining book industry.
It is completely clear that most of the books that are being sold are not for person enjoyment. Not only are people becoming less interested in books in general, but libraries often provide books for free. Most of the books being sold are for education so blockbusters are a necessary tactic for those companies who are suffering due to the decline. For the readers, however, it is disappointing to see the quality of books suffer so harshly due to the decline.
