Radio and TV have both evolved in the recent years. Radio has become more widespread recently, some stations offering their music online, or on Podcasts, so their musical choices can reach anyone at times that are ideal for them. It is very convenient to be able to listen to your home radio station while you are on vacation, or away at school, if you prefer their music. Many radio stations today also have a key target audience they wish to reach. Although many of them play similar, popular songs, there is often a radio station out there for anybody of any age.
TV is also something that can reach any audience. With the new HD television, the picture on TVs is much clearer, and it’s much easier to watch TV with all the high-definition details. Many TV shows in the recent years have stayed the same, such as shows like soap operas, or reality shows like The Bachelor, but they are now constantly making shows like these ones more scandalous in order to compete with the abundance of outrageous reality shows, and TV shows in the media industry right now. This may not be a positive evolution for the TV industry, but it definitely brings in the ratings. Shows like Gossip Girl, or 90210, no matter how unrealistic they may be to teens’ lives today, they still entertain them with their drama and issues, so they draw in many viewers.
Overall, both industries have evolved and will continue to evolve in order to reach the ratings and viewers they want to – but will the evolution be for the best?
