There have always been blockbuster books but these books are what keep the industry going.
Having a book become popular and sell so many copies just brings rise to new authors and publishers trying to top it, therefore there is always competition.
Thus these publishing houses have become very competitive themselves and have come up with new strategies of selling their books, through advertisement strategies, television, and the Internet.
There has also been a major change in the way people are reading books today.
The American culture has become so dependent on electronics and technology in general that many people are now reading books on computers.
Due to the new ipad and e-books people are able to go online and download a book right to their screen. This new method is becoming more popular by the day.
Who knows maybe eventually there will not even be printed books in the future it may all go to electronic or digitally projected books.
This industry will continually be transforming making it easier and more enjoyable for people to read books.
