Our Lives & Technology

Today, technology is a huge part of peoples’ everyday lives. We constantly look for the next step up for technology and always want to keep up with the latest trends. Technology may not have been a prominent aspect of peoples’ lives in the past, but today we are bombarded with technology all the time. From cell phones, to iPods and televisions computers, we all use at least one of these things a day. Things like these are also constantly updated which makes consumers want to upgrade their belongings all the time. We depend on technology to get news, to keep in contact with others and to essentially be entertained.

The usage of technology also changes from generation to generation. Kids today use and learn about technology now more than ever, as opposed to in the past when computers were new to mostly everyone. However, most people can be seen utilizing at least one form of technology throughout their day. Technology impacts us everyday, and since most people would not be able to spend a day without technology, it is obvious that it is a vital aspect of our world today. By using technology, we can use the computer to talk to people, do work, research things on the Internet and entertain ourselves. Cell phones are also a huge aspect of technology in that they are constantly changing and being upgraded so people are able to do more and more with their cell phones, so with this technology, they can always find information and reach people easily.

In the “Digital Nation” program, viewers got to see how dependent the world, and mostly the United States is on technology. It was interesting to see how some people see technology as a negative thing that can easily take over peoples’ lives, like with video games. However, other people thought the complete opposite. For example, some elementary and middle schools make sure all their students have laptops that they can bring to class and use this form of technology to help them learn. Many children also learn at a much younger age how to use a computer. While some people think technology can help us, and save us, others disagree and feel as if technology takes over too much of our lives.
