Revolution of News

The transition from paper to electronic forms of news has greatly influenced the industry. Similarly, blogging can also have a very large impact on society. These two relatively new forms of obtaining information have the ability to forever shape where we obtain our information about the world.

Prior to being able to access the news on the Internet, the public would have to wait at least until the next day to find out that an event even took place. Even so, often times not all the information had been gathered on a story and it might take multiple days to get a complete coverage on a topic. Since the Internet, stories are posted as they occur, and change as updates come in. Often time streaming video is even available, which makes the Internet even more instant than waiting for the nightly news.

Once people have heard coverage of the stories from the media of their choice, there is now the option to voice an opinion or comments through means of blogging. Blogging is a place where anyone can exercise their freedom of speech in order to persuade, inform, or for any other reason post writing on the web. There are many cases that blogging has actually enacted a change in society. For example, Trent Lott who lost his position as the most powerful member of the senate, due to a leak caused by a community member.

The use of the Internet as a source of news has greatly revolutionized the industry as we know it, and continues to improve the coverage of the stories around us. Internet also provides us with a way to voice our opinions and read those of others. This is another example of how technology has been used to broaden the horizons of society.
