Good Public Relations

Public relations is ultimately the middleman between a company, musician, politician, celebrity, etc. and the general public. Good PR is key for people and companies to maintain good communication with the public. They keep everything under control, especially when controversy arises.

People working in PR also communicate with the media, which is how information is relayed to the public. Good public relations make sure a company/person is viewed in a positive way, and reveals information that enhances that positive image.

Damage control is another aspect of this. Think Toyota. Think Tiger Woods. Think Bill Clinton. Think Chris Brown. They all made mistakes, damaging their images and careers. PR who work for them try to restore the public's perception and trust by strategically organizing interviews, advertising campaigns, and press conferences that get people focused more on how the problem is being resolved and less on the person or company's mistakes.
