How have blogs and the internet changed the way news is reported?
Back in the day, news was only reported by the newspaper, then by newspaper and radio then tv, and now we have the internet which allows reporters to post information about an account almost immediately.Sunday, February 28, 2010

Radio & TV Evolution
Radio and TV have both evolved in the recent years. Radio has become more widespread recently, some stations offering their music online, or on Podcasts, so their musical choices can reach anyone at times that are ideal for them. It is very convenient to be able to listen to your home radio station while you are on vacation, or away at school, if you prefer their music. Many radio stations today also have a key target audience they wish to reach. Although many of them play similar, popular songs, there is often a radio station out there for anybody of any age.
TV is also something that can reach any audience. With the new HD television, the picture on TVs is much clearer, and it’s much easier to watch TV with all the high-definition details. Many TV shows in the recent years have stayed the same, such as shows like soap operas, or reality shows like The Bachelor, but they are now constantly making shows like these ones more scandalous in order to compete with the abundance of outrageous reality shows, and TV shows in the media industry right now. This may not be a positive evolution for the TV industry, but it definitely brings in the ratings. Shows like Gossip Girl, or 90210, no matter how unrealistic they may be to teens’ lives today, they still entertain them with their drama and issues, so they draw in many viewers.
Overall, both industries have evolved and will continue to evolve in order to reach the ratings and viewers they want to – but will the evolution be for the best?
Movies Moving Us
Movies today are significant to our lives for many different reasons. Firstly, they are a form of entertainment, and by going to the movies, we know we will be entertained in some way. It is an easy activity to do with anyone and it isn’t very costly. Movies can also unite people. By watching them with someone else, you not only may have a common interest, but you also just had a common experience. After that, you can discuss the movie with someone, or clear up any confusing parts of the movie.
Movies are also something universal that many people have access to. People throughout the entire world watch movies, go to the movies, and have favorite movies. It’s the perfect way to connect with someone you just met, or even in some circumstances, someone from another country. People often quote movie lines with their friends, or remember movies for their legendary, significant lines. Classic movies like Gone With the Wind, or Casablanca, are often always considered some of the greatest movies because of their popularity and resilience.
Even though movies have drastically changed over the years, they will continue to be loved by mostly everyone. They are a common ground for most people and a source of entertainment for a variety of generations.

Movies in our lives
Movies are so significant in our lives today. We spend countless hours watching movies for a variety of reasons. Whether its history class learning about the African American heritage, or on a Sunday afternoon watching the new blockbuster movie that just got released. Movies do many things for us, such as educate us, entertain us and bring us closer together.
Movies are also a great pass time that you don't need to spend too much money on. Going to the movies is still so much fun to do on a Friday or Saturday night and I don't think that will ever change no matter now much new technology comes out. Overall, movies are a tradition of entertainment for everyone no matter what your interests may be.
The Evolution of the TV and Radio
The radio is much older than TV but is still big in our society. Music is constantly playing in stores and work places all over. Though TV is slowly taking its place in some places the radio is still popular and will be for time to come for there are some places the TV cannot replace it.
TV is not that old of an invention and nowadays everyone has one and the picture has become very lifelike. Due to these fast advances more and more TVs are bought and they are filling up all over. They are on the walls of restaurants, in our homes, on buildings, even on the pumps at the gas stations. The future can only hold more TVs to come.
Movies take us to a New Place
They are also around for our entertainment and even education. People see movies for they like the relaxation and the fun of it. They might find it fun for it scares them, frightens them, or makes them laugh. But they also can teach us new things or ways of thinking. It gives us a new perspective or experience we have not had.
They are a way to unify us with a common interest. People can watch a good movie and connect with each other on ways they did not before hand.
TV is good, not bad
Television has evolved our media industry completely. It has brought people together and can give many people something to talk about. It also updates society about events that are occurring immediately while they are happening.
Radio was the first to evolve with electrical technology. But the TV was a whole new invention and way of entertainment that whe world never expected before. TV can provide many different types of entertainment, and way of information as well.
Sure, TV can be bad for people. But thats only if it is watched too much and abused. If you think about it though, anything can be bad for someone if it is overused or abused.
I think TV was one of the best inventions ever created, and agree with everything that it has brought to our media society today.

TV, one of the best things that has happend to society
The TV is truly something special in our world of inundated with mass media. It serves almost as portal to the world that has truly changed the way people go about living there lives. Think about it, how many times have you heard, "have you watched that new show" or "did you see the show last night", the way TV has affected us is really quite amazing.
Something good I always felt TV has done for society is it gave people a common form of entertainment other than radio. TV showed people visuals not thought possible and it continues to gives us all something nice to watch in our free time.
I am now and probably always be an advocate for the Television history and I hope it continues to give people everywhere accessible, quality entertainment.
Radio and Television Evolving
The radio has been around for many, many years, and even though there are many ways of technology to use, the radio continues to stay extremely popular in people's lives. From experience, I know that the radio is a huge part of my life nowadays. Whenever I am in my car, the radio is constantly on.
The television has also evolved as media in recent years. Because television is constantly changing and updating, it is staying tremendously popular. I feel like every time I turn on the television, there are commercials for either new cable companies or new televisions. Also, with HD becoming much more popular, people are buying new televisions to stay up to date with technology. I feel like televisions are always on it people's houses, even if they aren't watching them, which shows how much television fits into people's lives.
Evolution of TV and Radio
Radio on the other hand has gone almost the other way. With the invention of other forms of music such as portable audio devices (iPods), XM and Sirius, as well as CD's, it has become increasingly difficult to survive in the radio industry. Stations are having to broaden their selection of music to accommodate as many possible listeners as possible in order to maintain their ratings. Although some people of college age find the radio a good source of finding new music and popular hits, many of them are choosing exactly what they want off off their music library's and playing it anywhere they need it. Perhaps it will take some new wave of technology to bring radio back to the mainstream for of media that it used to be.
Movies in our Lives
One interesting aspect of movies is that they can dictate emotions to the viewer, and give them a sense of understanding or empathy for the characters involved. Many people who view them often haven't had the same life experiences as the characters, and can give them a sense of understanding for people who may seem easy to judge just because they lead different lives.
Because of this understanding that comes about while watching movies, films can be used as a way to unite people of different backgrounds for a common purpose, and maybe even give them an entirely new perspective on what life can be like for others.
From “Fireside Chats” to HD
The radio was the first form of technology that was able to bring the media home. In the 1930s and 1940s, families would sit around the radio and listen to President Roosevelt talk. These events were referred to as “Fireside Chats” because families would assemble to listen.
As the years went on, the television was invented and people were able to visualize what they were hearing on the radio for so long. The first TVs were in black and white. Just being able to watch the news or a show was a big deal at that time. When color TVs started to be made it was as if technology couldn’t get any better.
Today, the radio is normally only used while driving in a car. But, even sometimes people are not listening to it for the news, only music. Televisions are still an exciting electronic. With new HD and LCD televisions, why pay hundreds of dollars for a sporting event ticket, when you can watch the game at home and the picture is so clear that it’s like you’re actually at the game.
These technologies have evolved over the past 80 years and have brought us news and media every step of the way.
The Changes of Radio and Television
Radio and television have both evolved dramatically over the past few years. Even in my life alone I have seen such a change in how people including myself listen to the radio or watch TV. Before TV, radio was used strictly for news and stories people would gather around and listen to. Now it is mostly music with some news updates and never ending commercials thrown in there. Even in the past few years radio has made many advances to having satellite radio.
TV has made such a leap in the past few years. As a child my family had a little 20 inch TV that weighted almost as much as me, to now and upgraded 42 inch flat screen. Everyone has also gone from having just a few basic channels to being able to have hundreds and hundreds and even high definition. It is shocking to see how much radio and television has changed all the years, and I can’t wait to see the advances they will have in years to come.
Changes in the Media
Radio and television have both changed drastically since they have been invented.
The radio originally only had a few stations and now there are thousands of stations. Also there is not just am and fm radios there are radios without commercials at all like satellite radios that people pay for.
Television has also changed a lot over the years as with radios televisions only had a few stations but again there are now thousands of stations.
These changes have gone along with the changes in the media and have become the essential equipment for media because radio and television can be broadcasted all over the world to a mass audience.
People can also pay for certain services in which there are no commercials and can pick what they choose to watch.
As example the media tries to give people what they want so a media company can set up a program such as HBO where the subscriber does not have to view commercials.
But this does not bring down profit because instead of other companies paying for advertisements the subscriber is paying to not see the advertisements so the company still makes money. Same rules apply with different types of radio services.
The media must change to satisfy the people so the media services such as radio and television must change as well.
Movies
Why would anyone possible want to sit around for at least an hour and half and just stare at a screen? The answer is to get away. Movies have this amazing way of taking a person away from reality and living in a world that's interesting and worry free. An example of this phenomena happened in the 1930's during the time of the Great Depression. Walt Disney, a huge animation figure during the time, came out with the first sound cartoons and the first feature length film (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs). His cartoons and movies gave the general public an outlet from their harsh lived during the terrible time of the Great Depression. People who had very little money still payed to go out and see movies because it was a way to get away from the financial hardships they did not want to think about at home. Today during the economic recession, the same thing is happening. Many are looking for a way to just go to the theater and get away and movies are a cheap and easy way to get that goal.
Radio
At first the radio industry was all about listening to shows. Detective shows and hero shows were extraordinarily popular! The family would gather around the radio on Friday nights and listen to their favorite programs. This has completely changes over the years. The radio evolved into a variety of different music stations. Each station is there to attract a certain type of audience. There are some stations that play an array of different types, but for the most part, stations target a certain audience. There are tons of different stations, nation-wide. Some target older people with songs from Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, others target teenagers from the 1980's with artists such as Stevie Nicks and Michael Jackson, today's teenagers listen to stations that play their type of music and so on. Not only are the stations targeting age, but preference. Some stations play rap, some play rock, some play pop and so on. The difference now is also the times in which the radio is listened to. Since the development of the television families no longer sit around to listen to radio programs. Most of radio listening happens in the car for most Americans now.

sound to black and white to color to 3D
Only a handful of years ago there wasn't even TV's or radios.
When radios came out it was the "big thing".
Radios started out as a way of getting important news from one person to many people in a fast manor.
They then started making radio talk shows for evening entertainment.
A few years past and someone came up with the idea of adding a face to that "voice in the box."
When TV's first came out they were only black and white and only had a few basic channels like the news and those evening talk shows.
Over the years they started making more shows and movies for TV.
Now we have colored TV with every channel possible.
We have HD TVs and HD channels where you can see the sweat on the persons face.
We also have 3D movies that we can buy and bring home and watch on our TVs.
With the help of the internet we can also watch "our shows" when we want or when we can for free online with out any or limited commercials.
As I think into the future I see all TV shows being in HD and 3D.

Movies Have a Great Impact on Our Lives
Movies would be obsolete if they lacked any significance in our lives. Would we willingly spend around ten dollars to simply enter the theater? Probably not. In addition, would we spend about fifteen dollars to purchase a DVD? On one hand it is a more understandable way of seeing a movie, as you can watch it over as many times as you would like, however it is still rather expensive.
Movies have a sort of quality to them that makes them special in everyone’s lives. They might give one a nostalgic feeling. Disney movies may take one back to their childhood. They could even make someone believe in magic, dreams and wishes. Films allow one to dive into another world and leave this life behind. Movies allow us to take on the lives of the characters and return home the same person that they were when they left home. Movies can make us feel better about ourselves, they can make us cry, laugh and be angry. We can learn things about the world, ourselves and even other cultures and people. The movie industry is certainly a unique industry and has a tight hold on our lives.

The Importance of Movies
Movies are significant in our lives because they serve as a form of entertainment. When film first came on the scene, they would show news clips. People would still go out to the theaters and watch the news because it was something new and exciting – entertainment.
Movies provide many memories for people as well. Whether it is the first date with your now husband or wife, family movie nights with the kids, or that night of babysitting where you watched every Disney movie in the house.
They also give aspiring actors/actresses hope. Many people want to make it in Hollywood and get on the silver screen. The hard workers will prosper and hopefully someday receive a star on Hollywood Blvd.
Without movies, there would be nothing to do in middle school on a Friday night and rainy days would be even more boring than they already are. Movies allow us to laugh, cry, get mad, be happy, fall in love, and learn.
Their presence in our lives is just another form of entertainment that we would sure miss if it were disappear.
Significance of Movies
Movies are an excellent way to visually explain both fictional events, moral messages, and events in history. They have characters and emotions that an audience can connect with, which can really add to the effect and help the audience’s understanding of the story being told. Even movies with non-human characters, like most Disney movies and animated Pixar films, have themes about love, friendship, or bravery, which are all real life concepts that humans deal with.
When it comes to non-fiction, like films based on true stories or documentaries, sometimes watching movies can help the viewer better understand aspects that can’t be portrayed as effectively with words. Movies are especially helpful when it comes to depicting history. The Holocaust, for example is in every history book, but watching movies like Schindler’s List makes it easier to understand and visually see the hardships, and what it was really all about, while sometimes also telling a story.
Movies, whether they are meant to amuse us or teach us about life, take our emotions and perceptions to a whole new level.
Film is for Art
For me, movie going is the same as seeing a concert, I go to see art. Of course I will go see the ones purely for entertainment, but I save my reflections on movies for the good ones. For instance, "Inglorious Basterds" was probably one of my favorite movies I've ever seen. Not just because it is extremely entertaining, but because the skill of the director/writer and actors is unbelievable. Tarantino is truly an artist in film.
"Avatar", though not necesarrily as well written or acted, was also one of my favorite movies. The 3D experience that James Cameron put before his audience placed me in another world, and i was transported in a very Peter Brook- esque "theatre of cruelty" way.
For me movies can be purely for entertainment, but Hollywood has proven this year that it still holds onto the art form of movie making, and that is hard to come by in a world of such commercialism in the theaters.
Recording
Mark is currently the producer for Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Ringo Starr, and has worked with the Beatles and Eric Clapton; needless to say, the man knew what he was doing. One fundamental difference between Mark, who is an old school kind of producer, and newer producers, is the type of technology they use.
For instance, the boom in "auto tune" has taken over pop artists. Auto tune automatically corrects pitches when artists sing into the software. This type of recording and producing seemed "unholy" to Mark.
He despised the idea of having anything on a track but the actual sound of the voice, the instruments, and whatever sounds came out of the amp. He even had the amps so loud at one point that they were picking up RF, or radio frequency, and he decided to keep it.
I think this style of recording separates the truly talented artists from the pop-culture artists who need auto-tune to stay on pitch. Hopefully "live recording" will stay alive, and the auto-tune revolution will begin to dwindle.

Music and downloading
Music:Almost Too Pervasive?
Music in today’s society is incredibly pervasive. We live in a world that thrives around constant noise and “iTunes.” In addition, everyone has a different taste in their music, what way they listen to it (whether it be on an iPod, a radio, another form of mp3 player, etc.) and how often it is poured into their ears.
Record companies and electronics companies live for new music and new products that make people spend more time with their head in the music rather than whatever else they should be doing. Perhaps this makes the industry too pervasive. How often does one see a young adult walking with headphones in their ears? This “fad” can be distracting to young people, especially when they would rather listen to their music than their teacher. What is all the “pervasiveness” doing to tomorrow’s adults? Hopefully, music will only evoke creativity and stimulate intellectual development, rather than provoke degeneracy and cause violence.
All these differences in music taste, headphones and time spent listening to music might also be changing the way we (as a people) might see each other. We seem to be growing apart and changing because one person likes one genre versus another. Music might be incredibly important to some, but distracting to others. Some companies dominate, while others falter. These differences certainly make music what it is, but what is it really doing to us?

restructuring of a company into smaller independent operating entities.” Companies do
whatever they can to broaden their company to reach more viewers than ever before.
During this process it is able to provide more people with companies therefore; more
people are making money, in comparison to one huge company being the only one that
makes millions. By magazines doing this, they have been able to have a variety of
magazines talking about everything from dating, fashion to even sports. Having more
magazines has also been able to provide for room for advertisements, making those
companies more money as well. This makes it possible for magazines to stay in the
business and compete with television and newspapers.
What is technology Dependence
Demasification making life easier
Demasification for the Good
When magazines narrow their field it becomes much more in depth and the reader gets a better experience. It is also not hard for magazines to do this for they have many options for targeting people; these include hobbies, genders, and age. This will help the reader become more informed on the topics that are important to them. This helps magazines even more than it helps the reader.
For magazines can now get specific advertisements and will know what to go for. Also they will not need to play a guessing game to find out what really interests its readers. Thus making the magazine much less work and much more profit.
What makes a newspaper successful
Newspaper's that offer an online version are much more successful because they get more viewers reading that aren't interested in purchasing the actual newspaper. The online version is also much more convenient in finding an article you are looking for, you can simply just type it into the search area in the corner.
Newspapers are also more successful when they provide local stories as well as the top stories from around the world. It keeps readers updated on all different sorts of news.
Music and the Music Industry

Music is Powerful and Changing
Music is not just the sounds created by the artist but is also the culture around it. This can be both positive and negative, but is never the less strong. If an artist’s dresses in a certain manner or acts a specific way this then becomes popular.
Also the way the beat is set up or the speed of a song can change the way people act. It appeals to the emotions of everyone and can really change their mood or outlook on life. All music is strong and the only thing that differs is that with this power to those people who have it use it wisely.
Some people used this when the industry took off with mp3’s to create their own niche. This both helped the industry by giving people more easily and hurt it by making it so easy to steal. Because of these relatively new and easy ways to get music I feel some artists will just through together a record to get another one out because the last one was stolen.

The Music Industry
When an artist displays their image, either with words or in music video, they are displaying a lifestyle. Different people are attracted to different lifestyles. Some can relate to a lifestyle directly, and some try to achieve a lifestyle that appeal to them by changing their looks, how they talk, and the music they listen to. When people are able to listen to music and relate to the message or lifestyle being portrayed, it is likely that they will be easily persuaded about what is being said.
Music also has the power to affect how we feel. Sometimes lyrics, and even music itself, are so convincing and can relate so much to your own life that it can change your emotions while you listen. In a way, it persuades how you feel.
Music today is so accessible, thanks to the internet. Instead of going out and buying an entire CD, often for only a few songs, we are able to download our favorite single songs. We are also able to preview songs, discover new music based on what we already listen to, and organize music on the computer without having to store CD covers or worry about scratching a disc. Downloading makes listening to music not only cheaper, but much more convenient.
It also changes the industry, because now there is more focus on selling single songs. Album sales used to be the main concern, but now the competition lies with the individual song that result in the most downloads.
Two issues arise with downloading music. The first is illegal downloading. which loses record labels a lot of money. When people are able to receive music for free, the company is losing out on sales. The second issue is the fact that unsigned artists are able to put their music on the internet to be downloaded. People don’t need the assistance and advertising from major record labels to be known in the music industry anymore. People can promote themselves, develop a fan base, and end up on anyone’s iPod without the help of a record label, who used to be able to make money off of such artists.
What is Demassification?
Readers benefit from this because they no longer need to read general magazines with a broad range of information, and look at advertisements that don’t pertain to their lifestyle, gender, age, job, or stage of life. Demassifying magazines really allowed people to learn more about their specific interests.
Magazines can break up their audience in so many ways. They can be aimed toward males or females, adults or teens, pregnant women or parents, or aimed even narrower toward people who are interested in specific topics, like politics, music, yoga, cars, knitting, or videogames. When topics are concentrated into one magazine, people can discover more about that world instead of reading only a few pages or articles in a broader magazine
Magazine companies can also benefit from demassification. A company can branch out and publish multiple titles that are aimed toward different types of people. An example is the company Hearst Magazines, who publishes Cosmopolitan, Food Network Magazine, Seventeen, Esquire, Smart Mechanics, Good Money, and Country Living, among several others. They have titles that appeal to different audiences, and they benefit from these different audiences purchasing and reading these magazines based on their interests.
The evolution of the music industry
Downloading music has changed the industry and how we listen to music dramatically over the years. We have gone from purchasing records many years ago, to now buying any song you want online with the click of a button. Even though it is extremely convenient, it has taken away some of the excitement of buying new music. Growing up I remember how excited I would be having my mother take me to the local CD store. However, now with the new world of iTunes, I haven’t purchased a CD in years. There is also the issue of illegal downloading, which has put many companies out of business. Overall, the music industry has changed dramatically over the years for the better and the worst.
sending the wrong message
How persuasive is music? How has downloading changed the industry?
I believe that each person has their own way of listening to music.
My mom for instance listens to the words and the beat of the music like alot of people do.
I myself might very well know every word to a song but I'm not listening to the words nor am I really understanding what the song is saying.
I just listen to the music itself with out the lyrics.
When I do think about what a song says I usually either agree or disagree with the meaning of it.
Just because I disagree with a song however doesn't mean I'll stop listening to it.
I do however believe that certain songs do send the wrong messages to some people.
There are people that truely listen to the words of songs, understanding and taking them in.
Children for instance are a group that listen to the words and learn what those words mean.
My 3 year old cousin dances and sings most songs that I myself listen to and I'm just waiting for the day when she fully understands the meaning of certain words (i.e. bitch, sexy, or hoe ect.) and starts using them herself to talk about either herself or others.
This is a very good example of how music can be persuasive.
Music can cause us to be saying things or even doing things that we dont really know is wrong because someone famous basically said it was ok to do it.
With all of this technology that we have today it makes it very easy to download music either free (illegally) or for a small free of a dollar or two (legal).
When people download free music most of the time I feel that they do it not thinkingly.
I feel that they do it basically to save themselves money.
I know many people who didnt know that when they download free music that they are stealing from the artist.
Yet now that they do know they do it anyways just because its FREE.
I myself have bought every song I own weather I bought the whole cd or just the song itself I still pay for each song.
Besides the fact that its illegal to download free music I mostly do it because the person who made the song is just doing their job and I wouldn't want people stealing from me when I'm trying to do my job.
I believe that alot of people download free music because they feel that the person who made the song already has enough money and doesn't need their dollar or two and will live just fine with out it.
But if you think about it in that sense then if 10000 people said the same thing when they downloaded free music then the artist lost $10000.
With $10000 less of an income they would have to start cutting back on what they bought.
But if the artist lost $10000 for each and every song then they may have to stop making music because they would have to worry more about paying for home/family needs over recording time to make their new songs.
Causing an endless cycle of loosing better and better artists.
Music, MP3s & Mojo: Music Today
Music today is very persuasive. Music is part of basically everyone’s life today. People listen to music on the way to class, in the car and throughout their day. Even little kids request iPods and MP3 players as gifts. There is constantly new music every week, so people will never get tired of their favorite music, as they can always update their library.
Music downloading has definitely changed the music industry forever. The musical world began with records, tapes and then CDs, and now has advanced to MP3 files, which people can easily download and find online. While you can buy music on iTunes very easily, it does cost 1.29 for popular songs, and .99 for other songs that are not as popular. This price may encourage people to instead, download music using a program like LimeWire, or going to websites that offer music file downloads for free.
There are even websites on blog communities, like Live Journal, that offer music downloads. People join these communities, and by posting on the blog community, they can request music from others, or download songs others have posted online. There are also programs like Mojo, which allows people to download music off of other people's iTunes, once they download this program. As long as people have Mojo, they can view other people's iTunes in their close vicinity. Things like these keep artists from making the full amount of money that they should, but people are always going to download music, and find new ways to access free music online. Since millions of songs are already out on the net, stopping music downloads would be rather impossible. However, the quality of the music on the internet may not be the best, which also may encourage people to buy music off a site like iTunes.
Demassification - Helping the Media Thrive
Demassification refers to the breaking down of an industry, specifically the media industry into smaller titles. The media shifts their products to appeal to certain audiences, and the largest audiences possible.
Demassification started with the radio in the 1950’s. Because of the popularity of television, radio stations had to target people through their music preferences. This way, radio did not become obsolete.
Many media groups thrive today by targeting audiences. In the 80’s, demassification continued to grow, with new technology. With television channels, demassification is very simple because there are many different things that a variety of audiences can chose to watch. The Internet also offers this by the variety of web pages available to visit (Vivian 14).
Magazines have also used demassfication in order to bring in readers. By focusing narrowly with advertisements and stories, magazines found that it was easier to reach people (Vivian 119). They also use websites which often contain bonus material that you can only get online which encourages people to explore their website, along with buying their magazine. This also allows companies to advertise in more ways than one. Some magazines also charge for their online subscription, which makes people more apt to subscribe as well because to them, it feels like something that is off-limits, so they will be more likely to buy a subscription to see what they are missing online (Vivian 121).

What is a Successful Newspaper?
A newspaper is successful when the readers are dedicated to a paper and trust it to bring them current, factual, and well-written news.
The look of a newspaper is one of the first things a reader notices before reading. This includes the layout of articles and pictures, organization, fonts, and eye-catching headlines. This is especially important for the front page.
Besides being aesthetically pleasing, a successful newspaper also has to have good journalists who have detailed, accurate, and in depth coverage of news and major stories. If a paper is known to be overall well written and have the most valid and detailed information, then readers will want to choose this paper as their news source over other competitors.
The goal of a newspaper is to attract readers using these factors, and if it’s successful, maintain their readers. Once an audience is dedicated to a newspaper as an information source, that newspaper has been successful in developing a dependable audience.
Newspapers - Excess or Success?
Newspapers are still a popular part of people’s lives today but some people may feel like the popularity of newspapers is decreasing. Many people in today’s society receive newspapers weekly, or daily in order to get news, but now that news is everywhere, and literally in front of us a lot of the time, it is easy to neglect and forget about newspapers.
Many newspapers can be read online, and many websites nowadays feature breaking news on their homepages which consumers can easily see. This is what causes some issues with newspapers today. People are not as apt to receive newspapers everyday because they can just easily check online for the latest news for free.
What makes a newspaper ultimately successful is the variety and diversity of the stories they publish in their papers. Big time newspaper companies like The New York Times will not ever really have issues selling their papers because they offer a variety of stories, and they are such a big name company. They also have an online website that requires people to register to look at stories online, and they will soon have to pay for this service. This way, The New York Times can monitor their readers easily.
Local newspapers also continue to be successful – although you can get information about your home town or city online, reading the local stories written by local citizens people know is something that is very popular. Overall, the success of a newspaper depends on their marketing skills. A company having an organized website with resources, and a successful daily or weekly paper will keep their company thriving.
